To the Native American Tribes that live on the great plains, the Thunderbird is sometimes known as "Wakinyan". The name Wakinyan is thought to come from the Dakota word kinyan which means winged. The Thunderbird is always surrounded by thick clouds which make is hard for him to be seen. But he is thought to be a great eagle who produces thunder from the beating of his wings and lightning from his eyes. He is shrouded in mystery. This three page pattern features a full color graph-style beading chart for the cover which can be done in either peyote or brick stitch. It also has a color chart with suggested delica bead colors and bead counts. Instructions for completing the bottom netting are included in chart and text formats. The innovative peyote/brick stitch diamond fringe pattern is explained in step-by-step graphic and written instructions.
