This lovely panel was created in peyote and features a cute little wild cat called Margay or tree ocelot. This wild cat is on the endangered list and exists from Mexico down to Argentina. Unlike the Ocelot, who lives on the ground, the Margay lives in the canopies of trees. They have jointed ankles that rotate 180 degrees which allows them to hang from a branch like a monkey. They use their tail to keep them balanced. The margay's color allows them to be camouflaged from other animals, which allows them to hunt. There used to be margays in Texas but humans caused them become extinct by cutting down the trees and poaching illegally.
I intend to donate 10% of my earnings from this pattern to the Gulf Oil Spill Effort.
